Can Adapter 7 Pole to Cigarette # 118019 Provide Constant 12V Power on a 2007 Ford Ranger

Question:

I currently have on my truck: Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow 3-in-1 Trailer Wiring Connector - 7 RV Blade, 5 and 4-Wire Flat, Vehicle Side, Model 48470. I only use a 4 flat to tow my camper, so I was looking for a 12V adaptor. I was interested in this adaptor but dont know if the 7-blade is hot all the time. I know my lights for my camper only go on when truck is on. But I dont know if the 7-blade works the same as the 4-flat. I want to have power when the truck is off.

The Draw-Tite Adapter 7 Pole to Cigarette # 118019 that you referenced will stay hot as long as the 12V pin on your 7-Way stays hot when your 2007 Ford Ranger is off.

You can simply test this by using a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993, and checking the pin in the 1 o'clock position on your 7-Way. Just check it when you have your Ranger off for any power. If there is power, then you are good to go!

If your Ranger cuts the power to the 12V pin when it is off, then you will simply need to run 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 from the pin in the 1 o'clock position up to your battery. You will naturally want to disconnect the current wire in that position.

To accomplish this task, you will want the 10-gauge wire, butt connectors # DW05745-5, a 40-amp circuit breaker # 9510, and some ring terminals.

This setup will give you constant power from your battery back to the 12V Power pin on your 7-Way,
