Installing B&W Center Section and Rear Crossmember Bolt on 2017 Chevy Silverado 6.5 Foot Bed
Question:
I am installing the BandW model 1016 into a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 6.5foot bed. My issue is I find that after the rear crossmember is attached to the center section then there is not enough room to get a torque wrench on the bolt head that is directly behind the latch pin release rod. Do you have any suggestions on how I can torque that bolt. Ive reviewed all of the videos shows the installer torqueing any of the bolts of the back rail to the center section. Thanks, I appreciate any help.

The B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit # BWGNRK1016 does have some tight spots. The use of a swivel adapter is a big help. I reached out to the installation tech at B&W and he said there is one bolt that you can't get a socket on that is just to the left of the center section, so he is aware of the issue you are having. He said that you can just put an open end wrench on that one bolt and tighten it as much as you can and that will suffice because you have the other bolts torqued. He said there is an adapter from a torque wrench to an open end, but you don't need to get that special tool as long as the lockwasher is compressed, you will have it tight enough with the other bolts torqued down.
