Location of Factory Brake Controller Port on a 2007 Ford Explorer with Factory Tow Package
Question:
I cant find the brake controller port on my 2007 Ford Explorer. I have the factory tow package but I have looked under the dashboard where is supposed to be and its not there?

Expert Reply:
If you have the factory 7-way connector on your 2007 Ford Explorer the factory brake controller plug will be located behind the glove box on the left side. You will open the glove box, push in the two tabs it rests on to get it to open further and the 6-pin connector is buried on the left hand side, close to the center console.
I am including a link to installation instructions on the Tekonsha Brake Controller Adapter, part # 3035-P that will show what the 6-pin connector will look like.

2007 Ford Explorer with factory 7 pin plug (V8) cannot find plug behind (or around) glove box did find a similar plug(Gray) underneath steering wheel (has 5 of six pins with one "blank" spot) looks Colored wires leading to plug are red, blue, purple/white, brown, and black/white
