Trailer Dolly Recommendation for Moving 5,000 lb Trailer by Hand

Question:

Hi, How to I find the tongue weight on my boat trailer? It is a dual axel 20 foot boat, approximately 5000 lbs total weight. I am looking for a trailer dolly to maneuver into a building. Thank You,

Typically trailer tongue weight is between 10 and 15 percent of the total trailer weight. So for a 5,000 lb trailer the tongue weight is most likely 500 to 750 lbs.

I attached an article on determining tongue weight as well for you to check out.

The best dolly setup we have is the part # TVXL2 for if you have a 2 inch hitch ball or part # TVXL25 for if you have a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. Both of these have a 1,000 lb tongue weight capacity and have a crank handle that you can use to turn the wheel of the dolly to make moving a trailer by hand much easier than just trying to yank on a handle to get it to move. I attached a demo video for this for you to check out as well.
