Can the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K be Used for a Saltwater Application
Question:
can thus hub be used on a boat trailer thats primarily used in saltwater? Will it hold up pretty good? Kind of late since I already ordered it today. But I still would like to know. Thank you!#

Expert Reply:
Although hubs that have a black powder coat finish, like the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K that you purchased, will not last as long against saltwater as one with a galvanized finish, like the Kodiak Trailer Hub # Q-HUB84545, you can still use it. The galvanized finish does a better job of resisting saltwater so it is preferred for your situation.
Hubs with the black powder coat finish can be used for saltwater applications but you will need to make sure to hose them off with fresh water after you are done loading your boat to help them last longer. There really is no formula for how long they will last, but just like anything else, if you take good care of it it will hold up fairly well.
