Can Slider Fifth Wheel Hitch be Used in Long Bed Truck

Question:

I have an above the rails toolbox, with a long bed. Would there be any disadvantage to using the slider hitch on a long bed? I see it’s only recommended for short beds, any danger?

Slider hitches can work just fine in a long bed but they are typically not needed so they aren't the recommended hitch. Since you mentioned having an above the rails toolbox though I have to mention that you can't tow the trailer with the hitch slid back all the time as it sounds like you may be looking for a way to clear the tool box. Regardless of bed length you have to have the hitch slid forward all the time when going faster than parking lot speeds. Otherwise you'd have diminish front axle traction on the truck which would be very dangerous for braking and steering.
