What Weight Capacity Do I Need for a 5-Lug Hub on Trailer Rated for 2995 lbs?  

Question:

I have a single axle boat trailer..The trailer is rated for 2995 lbs..I notice that the hubs are rated in pounds...I have a five lug hub. I have 14 in tires on the trailer. What pound hub should I get.

The hubs you need will be based on the spindle size and bearings used. This will help your hub to be rated for weights related to the capacity of your axle. I've attached an article to assist, but you will need to pull one of your current hubs and look for the bearing numbers printed on the face of the inner and outer bearing of one of your hubs. If you cannot get these bearing numbers, then you will need to use a digital caliper like # PTW80157 to measure your spindles at the bearing locations. I've attached a photo to assist as well as a video.

I've also attached an article to help you determine the bolt pattern of your hubs as there are 4 options for 5 lug hubs. Let me know what you find and I'll be happy to help get you the correct hubs for your axle.
