Battery Draining While Flat Towing a 2017 GMC Terrain
Question:
Hi. Have 2017 GMC Terrain which I flat tow behind Class A RV. Battery will not keep a charge. I have had a battery charger installed and wired to battery by my dealership. My tow vehicle does not hold a charge. This is the result of a recall to not remove fuse 32 but to remove fuse 16 on engine compartment fuse block. The auxiliary battery charger was installed onto the tow vehicle and the charging leads connected to the battery of the RV. Supposedly this would prevent discharging the battery on the tow vehicle. But did not work! What am I doing wrong? Please help!

The correct fuse that will need to be removed on your 2017 GMC Terrain will depend on the engine size. If you have the 2.4L L4 engine then you will indeed need to remove the #16 fuse but if you have the 3.6L V6 engine then you will need to remove the #32 fuse. The fuse box that you will need to access is located inside of the vehicle on the passenger's side of the center console, not in the engine bay compartment as you described. To eliminate having to remove the fuse by hand each time I recommend using the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass part # RM76511.
I have attached an installation video of the above bypass switch installed on a 2017 GMC Terrain for you as well.
