Can Spare Tire Remain Mounted With Trailer Hitch Installed on 2000 Nissan Xterra?
Question:
Looking to make a purchase from you guys but would like to know if the receiver has any kind of warranty, if so how long and on what restrictions/circumstances? Also will my spare still be able to be mounted in its original place underneath. Curt model Thanks!

The Class III Curt hitch # 13183 does have a limited lifetime warranty and there are no restrictions if you use it as intended, which means not to alter it or do something such as tow more than its 4,000 lb towing capacity. As for the spare tire on your 2000 Nissan Xterra, so long as it is the 17 inch spare tire, it will stay mounted in the original place after the hitch is installed, but during the install process the tire will need to be lowered or temporarily removed. I've attached a photo of the installation steps for you which mention the spare tire.
If you are going to be towing and your 2000 Nissan Xterra does not have the factory tow package you'll need wiring to add a 4-flat, the Vehicle Wiring Harness Kit # C59236 which you can mount with brackets # 18140 and # 18144. I also recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip. You can use the link to the help article on ball mounts I've added to determine if this kit will give you the correct amount of drop or rise. I've also attached a link to our page with each of our ball mounts as well as video reviews of these products.
