Trailer Tire Recommended PSI for Highway Driving and Ambient Temperature Changes

Question:

I know that you are supposed to fill trailer tires up to their maximum PSI rating, for example 80psi for my ST235/80R16 tires when they are cold. Is there any reason to be concerned that when you are driving down the highway that these tires are going to get warmer and the psi in the tire is going to increase above the max psi rating for the tire? Thanks.

For tires like the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # LHWL401 that have an 80 psi max like your tires, you are correct that when you inflate them to max cold the friction and warming of the tires will increase that pressure. The tires are made with this in mind and are rated for such increases. Your tires will go above that 80 psi on highway driving and more so on a hot day. You do not need to be concerned about that increased tire pressure.
