Why is There A Hitch on Back of Fifth Wheel Trailer?

Question:

Why is there a trailer hitch on the back of our fifth wheel? Surely we are not allowed to pull a trailer behind a fifth wheel camper behind a truck, are we?

Expert Reply:

The laws on pulling trailers mostly varies depending on weight and total length of your setup, but yes, people do sometimes tow a trailer behind another trailer. For the majority of people though, that hitch is used for accessories approved for use behind an RV. Those accessories are commonly in forms of bike racks such as the Swagman Dispatch # S44FR or cargo carriers such as the Stromberg Carlson # CC-100.
