In order to install the Tekonsha Primus Brake Controller, # TK90160, in your 1997 Toyota Tacoma, you will need a few parts. First, you will need to install a 4-Way wiring harness if the truck does not already have one. You can use # 118379. I have included a link to the installation details and a video to help with installation.
With a 4-Way installed, you will then need to install a 4 and 7-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. This will provide a 7-Way connector at the back of the truck and the wiring to install the brake controller. I also recommend a circuit tester, # PTW2993, if you do not already have one. I have included links to FAQ articles and a video that explain now to install the ETBC7 kit.
