Can A 7-Way RV Trailer Connector Be Used with only 4-Way Wiring Installed on a 2008 GMC Acadia
Question:
My Acadia does not have factory towing wiring. My question is can I install a 7 wire harness just for cosmetics and use a 4 flat adapter?

Yes, you can use a 7-Way RV wiring harness on your 2008 GMC Acadia without tow package. You will first need to install the T-One Vehicle Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, item # 118451, which will plug inline with your vehicle tail lights, see instructions and video link. You will then need to install an adapter like # 37185. This adapter will plug into the 4-Way connector previously installed and the extra wires can be tied up out of the way for future use. A bracket is included for mounting the connector, and you can make it a no drill installation with the addition of the No-Drill Mount Bracket, item # 18140.
With the # 37185 wiring harness you will not need to use an adapter since it includes a 4-Way connection right next to the 7-Way connector. If you wanted to use an adapter you could use the # 37017 adapter, which does not have the added 4-Way connection, and the Pollak 7 Pole to 4 Pole Connector Adapter, # PK12716.
