Brake Controller and Hitch Recommendation for 2010 Dodge Ram 1500

I have a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 and it doesnt have hitch receiver installed. Ive learned through your videos on youtube and your website that product #13333 is the way to go as I intend on buying a travel trailer in the near future approx 20-24foot in length. A couple questions: 1 Do I need to install a brake controller? And if so, which one? 2 Can you provide a list of items that Ill need with suggested product numbers i.e. ball mounts, hitch ball, etc., and anything else for somebody new to the trailer world. Truly appreciated.

A travel trailer that's 20-24 feet in length is going to have brakes on it that will need to be activated when towing so you'll need a brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.

The correct install harness for this controller in your 2010 Dodge Ram is the part # 3021-P.

The hitch part # 13333 that you referenced is also a great option to that would work well.

Since you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
