Recommended Snow Chains for 2008 Volvo S40 That are Easy to Put On and Remove
Question:
I am looking for snow chains for my tires for a 2008 s40 Volvo. Volvo recommends we purchase their chains but I am interested if there are other chains that would fit the car. We will be driving in the ski resort towns of Colorado this winter. The tires are 205/50-17. If possible would like some that are easy to put on and take off. Is self tensioning and rim protection a good idea? Thank you for your help.

Self-tensioning and rim protection on snow chains will not affect their performance so they are a very good idea for those that value speed and simplicity when putting on and removing snow chains.
The chains I recommend that are a fit for the 205/50-17 tires on your 2008 Volvo S40 are the Konig Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains # TH04115090. You'll be able to put these chains on your Volvo and take them off in seconds, as you can see in the video I've linked for you.
The Konig chains are made out of nickel alloy steel, have a diamond pattern, and require only that you step on the pedal in the middle of the rim protection (see included photo) to tighten them. Releasing the chains from your tires requires only the press of buttons. I took a look at the owner's manual of your Volvo, and it does say that snow chains should be placed on the front wheels, which is something you'll want to keep in mind as you trek around Colorado.
