Recommended Tire Chains For A 2023 Honda Pilot Elite With 255/50R20 Tires

Question:

I am driving a 2023 Honda Pilot Elite with 255/50R20 tires. I looking for snow chains for a planned trip into the mountains. The manual references the Cable-type: Knig XB-16 265 I assume that they mean Konig. Your site recommends the Konig Tire Chains - th2004705265. I have never used tire chains before and I want to confirm the fit with the chains your site recommends. I home I dont need the chains, but I want to have them just in casebut am worried about damaging/scratching the wheels. Any thoughts or input is appreciated and thank you very much.

I can certainly point you in the right direction. It is always a good move to go with exactly what your owners manual specifies. For that reason I recommend going with the Konig Tire Chains # TH01571265 for the 255/50R20 tires on your 2023 Honda Pilot. This is going to be the exact Konig XB-16 size 265 chain referenced in your manual. I really like these Konig chains because they are top quality and are exceedingly easy to install, you simply drape over and make your connections. This will be a huge convenience when if you find yourself needing to put them on in the snow/ice on the side of the road.

That being said, technically these chains do not offer wheel protection. Although generally very little of the chain will be in contact with the wheel. It is usually only plastic pieces that contact the wheel, so risk of scratching the wheel is minimal. If you want guaranteed rim protection, I suggest you take a look at the Konig K-Summit Chains # TH2004565767. This chain anchors to the wheel lug nut, so there is zero chain contact with the wheel itself. They are also extremely easy to install, but they are premium chains and carry a premium price tag. All of the Konig chains come with a 5 year warranty.

I do want to add that, with any new pair of chains, we strongly encourage you to test fit them once or twice in your driveway as soon as you get them. This way you can familiarize yourself with the install process. This way there will be no surprises when you are installing on the roadside. Below you will find install videos for both of the aforementioned chains, if you want to take a look.
