Can I Use Smaller Tires and Wheels to Lower Trailer for Storage
Question:
Current wheels are ST185/80 D13. If I deflate from 50 PSI to 12.5 PSI, I can get the boat in the garage. Looking for wheel that has a lower height. Current height is 23 inch-11.5 inch from middle of hub to bottom of tire. I need a wheel that is no more than 20 inch in height. Willing to switch to 12 inch rim. Willing to switch to lower load rating and only use the tires to move the boat in and out of garage. I was even thinking of rolling without tires but I dont want to damage the concrete. Your suggestions would be appreciated.

I looked at tire options and basically anything that would fit your current rims would have a height of 23 inches or greater. You could change to a 12 inch rim so long as you do not use them for towing (unless they accommodate your weight capacity). Your weight capacity is not as important for storage.
Depending on your bolt pattern, you have the following options:
1. Loadstar 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C
Item # AM30670. Bias special trailer tire that has a 990-lb maximum capacity at 90 psi. 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. Outer diameter of 20.7 inches.
2. Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire w/White Wheel Item # AM30620. Bias special trailer tire that has 990-lb maximum capacity at 90 psi. 4 on 4 bolt pattern. Outer diameter of 20.5 inches.
This is the closest tire size on a 12 inch rim we have to 20 inches in diameter.
No matter what you decide, make sure your choice will fit your trailer.
