Will Demco Hijacker SL Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM6076SL-16K Fit Above the Bed Rails

Question:

Hello, I purchased a pickup a little while ago, it has rails installed in the bed, and I have recently purchased a fifth wheel trailer, so i need a hitch, I believe the previous owner had a Demco but i am uncertain, So i need to know the measurement between the rails for your hitch so i know if it is the correct fit. thank you

If the rails in your newly acquired truck are industry standard rails then they will have the measurements shown in the picture I have included. If that is what you have then they are NOT compatible with Demco Hijacker SL Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM6076SL-16K. Instead you would need a hitch such as # DM6076P-UL-21K or any hitch that fits in industry standard above the bed rails.

If your truck has the SL rails, # DM8553001-12, then the Demco Hijacker SL Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM6076SL-16K, WILL fit.

If you are not sure you can snap a picture of them and email it to me.

We haven't gotten a chance to install the Demco Base Rail Kit # DM8553001-12 so unfortunately we don't have a video available for you. the best I can do is refer to the install manual that's attached to the product page.

@ChrisR thanks! I stalled this a couple days ago, my box had no instructions in it but I was able to find them online and print them off. However, they are rather generic and in some ways didn’t apply to my F350. I did manage to figure it all out, and the hardest part I found was actually getting my fingers between the frame and the box to get the nuts started, all while holding up the brackets and spacers. Was a bit of a chore!! I also found that the bolts are about 1/4” too long where the frame narrows, they butt up to the frame and deflect the rails upward! Those bolts should come already shortened. All said and done it’s a good kit, but it would be nice if each side was a single bracket, but I think this system will soon be obsolete. Thanks for you feedback.

@GerardC Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm sorry the process wasn't exactly frustration free. I'm glad you were able to get it installed though.
