Does Trailer Surge Brake Solenoid for Reverse Lights Draw Enough To Overdraw Reverse Light Circuit

Question:

I am concerned that the surge break solenoid on my hydraulic brake trailer may draw more amps than my reverse light circuit wants to allow. I want to use a 4 to 5 pin flat adapter but am concerned about frying the reverse light circuit or controller.

Expert Reply:

I understand your concern, but we've yet to see a reverse lock out solenoid overdraw a reverse light circuit and we see this type of setup pretty frequently.

For example, the Titan reverse lock out solenoid part # T4748800 only draws 8 watts so it doesn't really draw much.
