What is the Bolt Pattern and Pilot Hole Diameter for the Nev-R-Adjust Brake Assembly Backing Plate

Question:

I have a tailer with and old moble home type axles 65 or 66 vintage it has dexter axle with bolt on backing plate the brakes have worked fine until something came loose and destory the braking stuff. The bolt hole pattern is 4 3/8 center to center The center hole being 4 if that matters will the 23-459 assembly fit? If not do you have the right on? Do have any suggestion on what to do. Do you sell the contact plate for the magnet to run against.

Brake assembly mounting patterns are different than the wheel assemblies for trailers or cars. Measuring between the bolt holes on the # 23-459, right hand, and # 23-458, left hand, brake assemblies, the measurement is 2-1/8 inches on center for all bolt holes except the widest pair, on the bottom, which is 3 inches on center. The diameter of the center pilot hole is 3-3/16 inches. I added these dimensions to a photo for you to see.

The diameter of the holes in the backing plate for securing the brake assembly are .390 inch which is slightly larger than 3/8 inch. This means your mounting bolts should be either 3/8 inch or 10 mm, the 10 mm being the larger of the two.

Mobile home axles are generally hard to find all the correct parts for. The brake magnet contact surface is machined into the hub and drum assembly so there are no contact plates available, even if the contact surface on the hub you have is removable. To to replace the hub, you would need to determine the correct replacement hub by matching inner and outer bearing part numbers, seal part number and wheel bolt pattern.
