Actual Cargo Weight Capacity for Hitch Mounted Enclosed Cargo Carrier H00604

Question:

Capacity is listed as 300 pounds, So if the weight of box is 80 pounds does that mean we can only put 210 pounds in it. The Lets Go arrow site says a different amount. So how many pounds of cargo can we put in this box??? Thanks.

I certainly understand your question given that we show a different weight capacity than Lets Go Aero so I checked with them for the confirmed weight capacity of their GearDeck 17 Enclosed Cargo Carrier # H00604.

Their latest online information confirmed the carrier itself does weigh 80-lbs and that the weight rating for just the contents you load into it is 300-lbs. This 300-lbs is incremental cargo weight by itself; you do not need to deduct the carrier's own weight from it.

This "subtracting the weight of the carrier" confusion might come from the fact that when seeing how much your hitch can handle. If your hitch capacity is 300 pounds for instance, you would subtract the weight of the carrier 300 - 80 would leave you with 220 pounds. In this case, you would only be able to carry 220 pounds in the carrier, even though the capacity is 300 pounds.
