Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller # 39510 Troubleshooting on a 2004 GMC Sierra
Question:
I installed a Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller on my 2004 GMC Sierra last fall and it worked flawlessly throughout the fall camping season. I parked the camper for the winter and it was working fine. Just pulled out my camper for the season and the green light doesnt come on and I dont have any trailer brakes. I tested my 7-pin plug and everything works including trailer brake lights, but my trailer brakes pin doesnt have any power to it when my brakes are applied. I tested where the pigtail plugs into by the brake pedal and there is power there like it should be when I apply the break and all, but I cant find power in my trailer plug for the brakes. Is it a fuse? I cant find any blown fuses and my owners manual doesnt say anything about a trailer brake fuse. Im stumped. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

First thing I would check would be the fuse in the lower, left most spot of the area with the bigger fuses as you are facing the front of the vehicle. This fuse needs to be a 40 amp fuse. See the picture for further clarification.
If that fuse is not blown I would follow the wire that leads to the brake output pin of your 7-way looking for any exposed wires, corrosion or anything else that would be causing a short. It sounds like you already are on the right track by testing wires coming out of the brake controller, I would continue doing that and trace the wiring all the way back the 7-way testing it periodically to determine where the short is.
