Solution for Activating 12 Volt Accessory Circuit of 7-Way on 2012 Volkswagen Touareg

Question:

Ive been searching and searching for an answer on this and hope you can shed light on this subject. I opted for the Prodigy RF brake controller for my travel trailer since its a simple installation. As discussed in many threads, I used a Ford E350 van for pairing because the VW would not pair. Its all paired now, the TV sees that I have a trailer connected and the TT E-brakes are working. However, the VW Touareg is not providing a 12V charge to the trailer battery. No one at VW seems to be able to help... can you? One guess is that Ive not used a hard wired controller and perhaps that under dash wiring mod activates the 12 aux charging somehow... One solution I have thought about is to run a 12V line from the aux/cigarette connector in the trunk to the black wire of the 7-pin tow connector! Help please.

Your solution would be exactly what I would do since it will bypass all of the vehicle wiring and take out any of the guess work. Just run 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 through a breaker like part # 9510 from the positive post of the vehicle battery to the 1:00 pin of the 7-way and the circuit would be active and ready to be used by # TK94FR.
