Scissor Steps for a 2001 Fifth Wheel Camper

Question:

Looking for scissor steps for my 2001 King of the Road, Royalite, R33BW fifth wheel camper. The existing steps are 25-3/4" wide. I only have 1-3/4" to work with when the door is closed. Not sure that will support the bracket to attach the scissor steps. From the ground to the bottom of the camper is 33-3/4", ground to the bottom of the door is 34-1/2". However, I believe there is enough clearance to attach it to the existing top step and still fold them back in for travel. 28" from ground to top of the top step. I would want the 4-step unit.

The Brophy Camper Scissor Steps - 4 Steps # AS24 would work perfectly with your 2001 King of the Road fifth wheel camper. The steps are 24" wide, expand from 31" to 39" tall with a distance from the top of one step to the top of the next step of 7-7/8".

I also went to the warehouse and measured the mounting bracket from the top of the V-clamps to the bottom, and it is 1-9/16", so the 1-3/4" of space you have when your door is closed will be enough to support the bracket that attaches the steps. For a handrail that goes with this unit you would want to use # AHR4.

I've attached links to video reviews of the steps and handrail for you to take a look at.
