In order to choose the correct electric brake assemblies for your trailer, you will want to measure both the inside diameter and depth of your existing drums. You should also take note of the number of holes in the brake mounting flange on the axle. For example, etrailer.com Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # AKEBRK-7-SA measures 12 inches in diameter and 2 inches wide. It has a 5 bolt mounting flange pattern and is designed for 5,200 to 7,000 pound axles.
I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection of electric drum brake assemblies that you can look through.
In order to control the brakes on your trailer, you will need to have a brake controller such as the excellent Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 installed in your tow vehicle. This proportional controller will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your vehicle. If you are able to give me the year and model vehicle that you will be using, I will be happy to recommend a plug-in wiring harness if one is available, along with any additional wiring or connectors that are needed.
I have attached a few articles on trailer brakes that you might also find helpful.
