Determining Wire Functions on Trailer Side 6-Way Connector  

Question:

Gooseneck stock trailer, my plug has red wire and no blue wire. All diagrams Ive found for this type doesnt show red?

Most likely the red wire on your trailer side 6-Way connector is for the electric brake circuit, as this is what the blue wire would normally be. With that being said, wire color is not always the best and most accurate indicator of their function, as it's possible that somebody has replaced the original trailer wiring or the trailer manufacturer simply used different colors for this trailer.

To verify the wire functions on the connector, I recommend using your vehicle battery or a spare and running a jumper wire to each circuit to see which function on the trailer is activated. Since the wire colors on your trailer are not standard, this will be the best way to ensure their functions.
