The Curt Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light w Converter Hardwire Kit # C59496 referenced in your question is confirmed to work on your 2014 Mercedes-Benz GL450. This is a hardwire kit that you can use to install a 4-Way connector needed to power the signal lights on your trailer. I have included the installation details for you to check out.
On certain vehicles, such as your Mercedes, there may be an issue with the bulb out sensor when towing a trailer with LED lights. If your trailer uses LED lights, the vehicle may think that there is a bulb out because LED lights draw so little power. If this is the case, you will simply need to install load resistors on the brake/turn light wires on the trailer. I recommend using the LED Light Bulb Load-Resistors # DI34ZR.
I have attached the installation instructions that you can look through.
