To install a trailer brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 or P3 # 90195 along with a 7-way socket in your 1994 Ford F-150 the parts you'll need depend on how the truck was equipped from the factory.

If it did not come with a factory 7-way then you will need our install kit # ETBC7 as well as a 4-pole wiring harness like # 118316. If you already have a 4-pole and 4-to-7 adapter part # 30717 then all you need is the controller and a wiring kit to connect everything, part # 5506. This has wire, connectors and circuit breakers for a hardwire install.

The controller has 4 wires. The white wire is ground; the black wire is 12V input power from the battery that runs through the 30-amp breaker in the kit; the red wire is the trigger signal wire that connects to the COLD side of the brake light switch; and the blue wire carries the controller output to the 7-way socket, to the pin at the 5-o-clock position. The kit also includes a 40-amp breaker that you will use to provide the 12V auxiliary power for the trailer, which is carried on the pin at the 1-o-clock position (see photo, please).

Two linked articles on wiring and brake controllers are included to help you complete your install.
