Recommended 2-Bike Trunk Mounted Rack for 2003 Mazda Miata with Rear Spoiler

Question:

Is Hollywood the only brand for a two bike rack for a Mazda miata 2003? Is the a Thule or Saris that will fit? There is a spoiler on the trunk.......

If your 2003 Mazda Miata has the rear spoiler, I do recommend going with the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 Bike Carrier # HRF2 to transport your bikes. This particular rack is designed specifically for vehicles like yours that feature a prominent spoiler. After researching the spoiler on your model vehicle, I do not feel comfortable recommending an alternative bike rack, as even those that are technically a fit for factory spoilers may provide some issues. The spoiler on your Miata is simply not strong enough to handle the weight that other trunk mount racks will apply to it.

I do recommend adding the etrailer.com Cable Lock # e98891 to secure the bikes to the rack and the Thule Passive Security Strap # TH533 to lock the carrier to your vehicle. Also, if you plan on carrying any children's, woman's or alternative frame bikes, you may need an adapter bar like the Kuat # UB01. This will provide a horizontal attachment point for level transport and improved ground clearance.
