Trailer Hitch and Related Towing Items for 2010 Hyundai Accent 3-Door Hatchback
Question:
I have a 2010 hyundai accent hatchback model:blue. My question is how do I know which style hitch I need? It looks like the Draw-tite or Curt could fit but not sure around the exhaust. Any way I will be able to know? thanks.

We can help you select the correct hitch for your 2010 Hyundai Accent 3-Door Hatchback.
We have two models of 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch available for your hatchback. The Draw-Tite hitch # 24795 has a design that allows the main cross tube to be mostly concealed behind the fascia panel.
The Curt # C11092 will install such that the cross tube will still be visible.
Both hitches share identical capacities so really your choice between them comes down to price and appearance. Since the concealed-tube Draw-Tite # 24795 is lower in price I would go for this one. Installation instructions and a video are provided for you, along with a helpful article with tips for easier hitch installation.
The online edition of the owner's manual for the 2010 Accent indicates towing capacities on page 2-26. These maximum towing weights are as follows:
Maximum Trailer Tongue Weight = 110-lbs
Maximum Trailer Weight Manual = 2425-lbs IF the trailer has brakes; otherwise 998-lbs
Maximum Trailer Weight Automatic = 1763-lbs IF the trailer has brakes and car has 1.6L engine; otherwise 998-lbs
These figures mean that the car can potentially tow a small utility trailer, but that it is really not suited to anything larger. You can check your manual to see if it has different rating information.
Towing requires the hitch, and also a wiring harness (if the trailer has lights), a ball mount and a hitch ball. The recommended wiring harness is # 119178KIT. The recommended ball mount is part # 3594 and this can be used with either 1-7/8-inch hitch ball # 19256 or 2-inch ball # 19258. Choose the ball size to match the coupler on the trailer.
If you're installing the hitch in order to use a bike rack you will need to use a Class I rack of no more than 2-bike capacity. The total combined weight of the rack and the bikes cannot exceed the 110-lb tongue weight maximum. A great low-cost bike rack you can use is the Curt # C18085.
For use with this rack we offer hitch lock # e98879 and cable lock # e98891 to lock your bikes.
