Ideal Hitch Height for Viking Solutions Rack Jack Magnum Hoist Plus Dimensions

Question:

I am primarily looking to install this to lift a 300# generator and an air compressor of about the same weight into the bed of the pickup. I noticed in one of the reviews that the hoist was not tall enough for a F-250. The person had to modify the jack to reach the ground. I am planning to use this on a 2016 Ford F-350 dually 4x4. What is the maximum hitch height this supports without modification? Do I need one of the High-Low adapters you sell? It would probably be better to build a wooden support to go under the legs so the height to get over the tailgate would not be an issue. Second question: What is the distance from the vertical cable lifting the load to the pole, i.e. how wide of a load can I lift?

I attached a picture that has several dimensions of the Viking Solutions Rack Jack Magnum Hoist # 310-VMH001.

I also spoke with my contact at Viking Solutions and he told me they designed this hoist for fitting a hitch height of around 18 inches. The outriggers will reach the ground at this height, but we recommend that a small gap of 1”-2” be allowed for suspension compression after the load is lifted. This helps disengage the pressure on the lynch pins holding the outrigger tubes in place. Otherwise, it may be difficult to remove the pins with the load now sitting on the vehicle suspension.
