Adjustable Ball Mount Recommendation for 2017 Ram 2500 with 2-1/2 inch Hitch
Question:
Hi, Thanks for a very informative site. I have a 2017 Ram 2500 4x4 crew cab with the 64inch bed and I want to buy a hitch that will cover a variety of possible future trailer height scenarios. The top of the 2.5inch hitch receiver is roughly 24.5inch off the ground. That would seem to me to mean that I should get a 10inch drop to cover all the possible common trailer heights but I have read some stories of people with 2500s talking about the larger hitches hitting things like curbs, etc. Also, my measurement is in the unloaded state, so I know it will settle once loaded, but I dont know what that amount would be typically. What would you recommend in terms of a good all-around height for my setup: 6 or 8 or 10 inches? Regards,

For what you are looking for the best option is going to be the Flash Simple Heavy Duty 2-Ball Mount - 2-1/2" Hitch - 10" Drop, 10" Rise - 18K # FA42-00-2925.
It fits a 2-1/2 inch hitch, a drop of 10 inches - which is what I would go with to cover various height scenarios like you mentioned - and even has a couple ball sizes to give you even more flexibility. To secure it to your hitch use Hitch Lock # 34061072-D.
