Curt Trailer Wiring Harness Amperage Rating for a 2015 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Hi, I have a 2015 Toyota Highlander LE Plus that comes with the tow package all Canadian model have it installed. I looked at this wire harness kit and view the walktrough video to install. The tech mention this harness kit is max out at 10 amp. Since I have the tow package, did I need a 30 amp kit instead? Can you tell me if there is one available and if there is a difference between a 10 and 30 amp kit. Which one I need? Thanks.

The 30 amp rating on your 2015 Toyota Highlander also likely includes the 12 volt power circuit and/or provisions for a brake controller. Trailer lights only take up a fraction of that and there are no trailer wiring harnesses that draw 30 amps.
Curt wiring harness # C56217 has a maximum amperage rating for 3 amps per circuit for stop/turn lights and 6 amps total for tail lights.
