Recommendation For Converting Boat Lift Bunks To Roller Bunks

Question:

I have a Hewitt boat lift and would like to install your roller bunks. The water depth of our lake varies and when shallow it is very difficult to get my aluminum 16foot Crestliner off or on the lift. The problem is the span, front to back, of the lift is 8foot and the roller system is only 5foot long. Is there a way to accommodate this?

Expert Reply:

Roller bunks don't help the water level rise, but they do help with getting a boat on or off a lift. Because your current bunks are 8 foot, you can use 2 sets of the Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunk - 4' Long - 10 Sets of 3 Rollers - by Dutton-Lainson # DL21740 for your 16 foot Crestliner boat. That extra support will only help when using these rollers with your Hewitt boat lift.

You will want to be more careful when docking to your lift because the roller bunks will give you a lot less resistance so your docking speed will need to be altered accordingly.
