If you have a 2007 Nissan Titan or Frontier and the truck has a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector all you will need is the brake controller and vehicle specific wiring harness. I recommend going with a proportional brake controller that engages the trailer brakes in proportion to how much the truck is breaking. This will reduce wear and tear on the truck and trailer and make for safer braking situations.
For a proportional controller with wiring harness, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, # 90885. The P2 is one of our most popular brake controllers because it is easy to set up and easy to use. I have included a link to the installation details for reference. The correct wiring harness for your Nissan is the # 3050-P and will connect to a factory harness located underneath and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. It is a 6-pin connector that mates with the # 3050-P brake control wiring adapter.
If you have a Titan that did not come with a factory installed 7-Way, you will need one additional part; Factory Style 7-Way and 4-Way Flat Vehicle End Trailer Connector, # N40975. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation.
If you have a Frontier that did not come with a factory 7-Way trailer connector, you will need a few extra parts to complete installation. First, you will need a brake controller by itself. For the P2, it is part # 90885. Next, you will need to install a 4-Way trailer connector using part # C59496. I have included a link to the installation details for reference. Last, you will need to install a 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. I have provided links to FAQ articles and a video that explain the ETBC7 installation.
