Can the BAK Revolver Tonneau Cover be Installed on a 2012 Dodge Ram Pickup With DeeZee Toolbox

Question:

I have the DeeZee fifthwheel toolbox DZ8560WB. Will I be able to install this tonneau cover on my truck and still be able to use the toolbox? Will the tonneau cover rails get in the way of the toolbox? Also how hard it it to unmount and remount the tonneau cover on the rails, so that way it could be moved out of the way of the toolbox.

To determine whether or not the DeeZee Red Label 5th Wheel Toolbox # DZ8560WB will allow the use of a tonneau cover you will first need to see what kind of clearance you have from the top of the tool box to the top of your bed rails.

I called BAK and my contact said that the BAK Revolver X2 # BAK39214 that you referenced will sit about 2-3 inches below the top of your side rails once it is installed. I would say to be safe you will want at least 3-1/8 inches of clearance from the top of your DeeZee toolbox to the top of the side rails on your 2012 Dodge Ram Pickup.

The tonneau cover isn't too hard to install (see attached video) but I recommend trying to find a different option if you are going to need to remove it just to get into your toolbox. The more you uninstall/install the cover the more wear is going to be put on the hardware. You would be better off going with the BAKBox 2 Collapsible Truck Bed Toolbox # BAK92201 which was designed to be compatible with some of the BAK covers including your Revolver X2.

If you do not have the clearance for your DeeZee toolbox and you would rather keep it than buy a new one you would need to go with a tonneau cover that installs on top of your side rails. For a soft, roll-up cover I recommend the TruXedo TruXport # TX248901 and for a hard folding option I recommend the Tonno Pro # TPHF-254. Both of these are confirmed to fit your 2012 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500/3500 with an 8 foot bed.
