Recommended Hitch-Mounted Cargo Carrier With Shank That Has Rise For 2004 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Hi, I had a hitch installed for our 2004 Honda Odessey. The goal was to then use a hitch cargo carrier which is now too low to the ground. What would be the best option for raising the hitch height and not loosing too much in the weight restrictions. Thanks!

Using any adapter on a trailer hitch will reduce the weight capacity by 50 percent. You may want to go with a cargo carrier that features a shank with a rise.
The hitch-mounted carrier we offer with the largest rise on the shank is the 23 X 47 Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier # M2205. The shank rise for this carrier is 5-1/2 inches. This is a steel folding carrier with a load capacity of 450 pounds. It has walls that are 22 inches high. You can add a lockable lid #M2201 and a cargo bag made for it # M2202.
Another carrier you may be interested in is part # PS1040100. This carrier has a 4 inch rise in the shank. The usable dimensions for this carrier are 47-3/4 inches long x 31-3/4 inch wide x 2-3/4 inches deep.
We also have the # 63153 with a 2-1/2 inch rise shank and the # e98874 with a 2 " rise shank.
