Do I Need To Use an Auxiliary Strap When Carrying a Thule Bike Rack On Curt Trailer Hitch # 13554

Question:

My Infiniti is on order and I plan to order and install this hitch to use with a Thule bicycle rack. Im concerned about the statement in the instructions. WARNING: ALL NON-TRAILER LOADS APPLIED TO THIS PRODUCT MUST BE SUPPORTED BY AUXILIARY STABILIZING STRAPS. Do I need some other extra steps I need to take to use this product with the bike rack?

Curt recommends using Curt Bike Rack Strap with Cambuckle, part # 18050, with hitch mounted bike racks and other hitch accessories.

I would recommend using part # 18050, with your Thule Bicycle Rack, as it is recommended by Curt as a precaution to reduce the jarring and torque applied to the hitch from the weight of the bike rack and bicycles.
