Topwind Trailer Jack vs. Sidewind Trailer Jack for A-Frame Trailer

Question:

My Trailer currently has an A-Frame bolt-on Top wind trailer jack and I need to replace it. I am thinking of replacing it with a Side wind jack version. Is there a benefit to the Side wind over the Top wind and if so, besides Bracket height, and other clearance and dimensions, are there any concerns with moving to the Side wind? My trailer is a Carson 5x8 Racer Enclosed. I was looking at the Bulldog Round, A-Frame Jack - Sidewind - 13inch Lift - 3,000 lbs Item # BD1550101344

The difference between top wind and sidewind is really mainly about personal preference and somewhat about clearance. Basically which way to you want to crank the jack? Horizontally or vertically?

Based on your picture you'd easily be able to use either style.

I prefer sidewind jacks like the part # BD1550101344 which is galvanized to prevent corrosion. Personally I find topwinds a bit more awkward to crank especially under weight.
