Recommended Trailer Hitch And Trailer Wiring For 2017 Chevrolet Impala Premier
Question:
I am looking for a hitch and wiring for a 2017 Impala Premier to occasionally pull a small 4x8 utility trailer. From the photos I have seen, the hitches are not very hidden, though it looks like maybe the Curt is a little less conspicuous??? Your recommendations please.

I recommend the Draw-Tite # 36538 trailer hitch for two reasons. First, the Curt hitch # C12115 requires trimming of the underbody trim panel. And second, the Curt hitch requires the use of a stabilizing strap like part # 18050 when using the hitch for any non-trailer items like bike racks and cargo carriers. Both trailer hitches are visible, but the Curt hitch may be a little less visible because of the underbody trimming.
The # 36538 hitch requires no drilling for installation. This is a Class ll hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.
The ball mount I recommend is part # 36061. This drawbar has a 3-1/8 inch rise and includes the hitch pin and clip.
For a 2 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19258, and for a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19257.
If you do not have a trailer wiring harness I recommend part # 118590. This harness plugs into the connection points that are located in the trunk behind the driver and passenger side of the vehicle.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
