The best setup to tow your 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk behind your RV would involve the use of a flat towing system. This option is only compatible with 2 speed power transfer units. Please consult your vehicle's owner's manual for further information.

In order to flat tow your Jeep with 4 wheels down, you will need a few items. The five main components of a flat towing system are base plates, tow bars, safety cables, brake harness wiring, and supplemental braking system. I have attached my recommendations for the following below:

For a base plate kit, I recommend the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit part # BX1136 as the kit features an integrated hidden mounting system with removable tabs. You will also need tow bars such as the the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar part # BX7380. The Blue Ox Aladdin has a 3-axis swivel function for an easy connection in addition to a self-aligning design for increased stability.

The Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit part # RM-15267 will also be required for this setup. For a supplemental braking system, I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System part # BLU37TR in addition to the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-88400 and mopar flat tow wiring kit part 68321424AB.

In addition to these items, you may need a high-low adapter. If the trailer hitch on your RV measures 18-24" from the ground to the center of the hitch receiver then you won't need an adapter. If this is not the case, I have attached a list of our high-low adapters for your review.

Fortunately, there are several installation videos of these products on your vehicle. Therefore, installation should not be too much of a tedious process nor time consuming.
