Expert Reply:
Draw-Tite hitch # 75082 will fit your 2000 Ford Ranger with step side bed so long as it has the factory-installed step bumper. This hitch requires some drilling for installation and a full-size spare tire may no longer fit under the vehicle with the hitch installed. An install video is linked for you.
If you also need a 4-pole wiring harness you can use part # 118344 which offers simply plug-in installation.
