Replacement 1-3/4-Inch-Wide Trailer Slipper Leaf Springs

Question:

I have a small jet ski trailer I converted to a utility trailer and need to replace the leaf springs, but cant find any trailer make or serial numbers. The leaf spring I took off is 1 3/4 in wide has a hook on the end and measures about 25 3/8 inches long free length and 5 1/2 free arch. The axle is 1 1/2 inches square. On the trailer the brackets measure 25. Also if you could include the u bolts to attach the leaf spring.

It sounds like your trailer uses slipper-type leaf springs like # SP-179275. This and other similar 1-3/4-inch-wide springs are shown on the linked page.

You will want to confirm the axle's weight rating; this usually appears on a sticker or plate on the axle itself. You need to choose a properly-rated spring so that the suspension it neither too stiff nor under-rated for the weight load.

You will then want to choose a slipper spring of the appropriate length. Do note that a well-worn spring will tend to become longer than it was when brand new. As the spring wears it has a tendency to relax and elongate slightly, say 1/2-inch to 3/4-inch at most. For example, it is possible that a 2K-rated 24-5/8-inch spring like # SP-179275 is what was on your trailer.
