Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Other Parts to Tow a Trailer with a 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid
Question:
HI I have a 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE and would like to tow a very small and light trailer. Trailer and load 800 pounds. Is the Hybrids hitch the same as the non-hybrid What is the trailer wiring kit number? Thanks much

Helpful Expert Reply:
Yes, both the Draw-Tite # 36540 and Curt # C12107 trailer hitch receivers will fit your 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid.
Between the two I recommend the Draw-Tite because the Curt requires you use a support strap, # 18050, when using the hitch for any non-trailer loads like a bike rack or cargo carrier. Even though you're getting the hitch to tow a trailer you never know what you might use it for down the road.
The wiring harness I recommend the # 118405. It installs by plugging in to the Camry's wiring which is in the trunk area behind some trim paneling. Then you'll run the hot lead to the vehicle's battery and install the included fuse.
I recommend # 36071 for a ball mount. Then # 19256 if you need a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 19258 for a 2 inch. If you need a ball mount with a different rise or drop I've linked our selection of Class II ball mounts as well as an article to help you determine the rise or drop you need.
