Recommended Brake Controller And Wiring For 2001 Dodge 1500 Van
Question:
I have a 2001 full size dodge 1500 dodge van. I have installed a 7 wire plug, that was easily installed with factory wireing. now I want to get a trailer brake controller, and I want to know if I can get wireing that can be plugged into existing fuse block.. does it exist????

On your 2001 Dodge 1500 Van, there is not a custom wiring harness for a brake controller, so it will need to be hardwired. For this wiring, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 5506 brake controller wiring. This kit will give you the wiring and connectors you need as well as the circuit breakers. I've attached some videos and articles to assist including our installation instructions for our # ETBC7 kit that the # 5506 is a portion of.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This controller uses an LCD screen that gives you all the information you need at a quick glance. It takes code deciphering out of the equation and allows your trailer brakes to apply at the same time and with the same intensity as you hit the brake pedal in your van. It has storable settings and is customizable for your driving preferences.
