Where to Measure on Trailer Frame to Determine if Curt Multi-Fit Hitch Fits

Question:

My Jayco trailer has a rectangular box frame, the distance between the inside of frame members is exactly 51. Is this the correct way to measure the frame width? Or should I be measuring to the centers or outsides of the frame members?

Expert Reply:

When measuring frame width for determining a fit for a hitch like the Curt # C13701 you want to measure from outside to outside.

The Curt hitch # C13701 wouldn't work for you since your inside to inside measurement is 51 inches.

Instead you would want the part # 13703 which has 22 to 72 inch width range.
