Can Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter be Used on Short Bed Truck
Question:
I have a question about the goose neck to fifth wheel adapter will it still work with a short bed
asked by: Charles G
Expert Reply:
When used in trucks with a short bed, the Covert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G will not usually allow for enough clearance to make tight turns with the trailer unless your trailer has a narrow nose.
In order to determine if you will have enough clearance for your trailer, there is a formula you can use:
(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from the gooseneck ball to the truck cab
B = Offset used, (this will be zero for this application)
C = Width of the nose of the trailer divided by 2.
At least 4 inches of clearance is recommended to safely execute a 90 degree turn.
