In order to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885, on your 2002 GMC Safari, there are a couple of items you will need in addition to the brake controller. If the van does not already have a 4-Way trailer connector, you will need to add one using 4-Pole Hardwire Kit Including Circuit Tester, # 18252. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation.
With the 4-Way installed, you would then need to add a 4 and 7 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. This kit will provided a 7-Way and 4-Way trailer connection at the back of the vehicle along with all the necessary wiring, circuit breakers, and connectors for installation.
I have included a link to the brake controller installation instructions, 2 FAQ articles explaining the installation of an ETBC7 and brake controller from scratch, and a video showing the installation of an ETBC7 kit for reference.
