Curt Class I Drawbar Requirements For Hitch Mounted Bike Racks
Question:
I am interested in purchasing a trailer hitch, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver. It will be for carrying a bike. Under the Features, it says the drawbar is sold separately, but it do not understand what this is or even if I need it. Can you e-mail me a response please. Thank you.

The Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11240 you are inquiring about will only require the use of a drawbar such as the Curt Drawbar part # C45520 when towing a trailer.
You will not need the drawbar for a bike rack or cargo carrier however, you will need to purchase the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap part # 18050 as this is a requirement for all Class I & II Curt trailer hitches. The support strap is designed to stabilize the rear bike rack or cargo carrier while in use.
If you do not wish to use the stabilizing strap then you will need the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24878. I have attached an installation video in addition to a product review for your viewing.
