Brake Controller Recommendation for 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
The Jeep dealership has quoted me $530 to install a factory brake controller to my 2016 grand Cherokee overland with the factory tow pkg and air suspension. They tell me they need to program the computer to tell it the controller is present. This seems excessive as I have had electric brake controllers before and they are pretty much plug and play. I was considering an aftermarket controller but am concerned that it will still need programming. Can you please educate me?

We have a much less expensive route that will give you the best brake controller around, won't require any computer reprogramming and is plug and play for your 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the factory tow package.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.
All you need then to install the controller is the part # TK93VR which plugs in the port under the dash. I attached an install video that will walk you through the entire install process.
